It can confirm CUCM itself is healthy while a call still fails somewhere else in the path — a Teams client, an Avaya contact centre queue, a session border controller, or the network between them. That’s the seam most CUCM monitoring evaluations miss: they test whether a tool can see Cisco well, not whether it can see the whole call.
Score any option — RTMT alone, a Cisco add-on, or a third-party platform — against what it actually needs to answer, not the length of its feature list.
If Teams, Avaya, or Zoom sit alongside CUCM, the tool needs to see all of them from one place, not a separate console per vendor.
A tool that only confirms what already broke has limited value. Look for threshold- and anomaly-based alerts that flag degradation before users report it.
