Cabcharge Payments get a smoother ride with IR Prognosis

IR Prognosis to maximize performance of more than 22,500 point of sale terminals in Cabcharge’s fleet of taxis and limousines through increased payments visibility

SYDNEY, February 3, 2016 – IR, the leading global provider of proactive performance management software for critical IT infrastructure, payments and communications ecosystems, today announced that IR Prognosis has been selected by Cabcharge Australia Limited (ASX:CAB), the leading electronic payment system for taxis in Australia, to provide the company with more visibility into and increased performance of its payments platform, application and transactions.

Cabcharge is a diversified Australian technology, financial services, taxi payments and passenger land transport company that also develops and manufactures in-taxi equipment. Its first priority as a company is to improve convenience and security for its passengers and drivers by providing a national alternative payment system to cash. Today the Cabcharge electronic payment system is found in approximately 97 percent of Australian taxis as well as limousines and water taxis.

“In order to keep an organization of our size at the top of our game, we wanted to be able to monitor our system to ensure that it is not just running, but that it is truly performing,” said Andrew Skelton, CEO, Cabcharge. “It was essential that we have a system that could help ensure that the transactions are processed as quickly and as seamlessly as possible. Therefore, we decided to invest in a solution that enhanced our product offering across the board. We chose IR Prognosis because it helps us to deliver the level of performance that we need, and it provides us with the right information to make ongoing improvements.”

In its ongoing quest to deliver the best service possible, Cabcharge made a decision to upgrade its payment switch so that it could have the ability to provide more customized payment options. This would allow the company to provide a better service to passengers and drivers through faster processing and new products. Along with upgrading the payment switch, Cabcharge wanted to ensure that the company could manage the new system and deliver the most effective solution possible. The company chose IR Prognosis to help operate and manage the new payment switch because of ease of integration and ability to customize to the needs of the new offering.

“A company like Cabcharge earns its reputation with customers as a payment provider from the overall experience that they receive, including the ease of payment at the end of the ride,” said Jason Barker, Senior Vice-President, APAC & MEA, IR. “Managing payments across a network the size of Cabcharge’s can be challenging on its own, but add to that the complexity of mobile payments processing and that can make providing the best service possible a tall order. Prognosis is designed to provide complete real-time visibility into payment transactions, giving businesses like Cabcharge the power and the control needed to minimize risk and maximize performance across its entire payments network, while providing superior service.”
